Dear Hubby and I went out for pizza, then came home to spend a quiet night in front of the TV. I'm still fighting the gunk and finishing an antibiotic, so I couldn't get all wild and crazy anyway. DH has been doing hospital watch for his father, who has overcome heart surgery and pneumonia, so we have much to be grateful for in this new year.
I haven't "done" resolutions these last few years. I have my goals and I know what I need to do. As Master Yoda says:
"There is no try. Only do or do not." But I do have some things for you all today!
This is so important to me and my gift to you. When you're running around like the proverbial chicken with her head cut off, stop a second, take a deep breath and think of this sticky note. It will. I promise.
I love this. We have a buddy who is a huge Marx Brothers fan who posted this. Groucho was never policially correct, was he?
Another buddy (what? I have more than one friend.) who is big with an A.B.A.T.E. (motorcyclist educational and advocacy group) posted this one. In case you can't adjust the bifocals, it starts, "Here's to the crazy ones," and ends with, "Because they change things." Isn't that a truth? I do vow to continue to be my crazy self in 2012. I wish to use my abilities for good, not evil.
This is from the Get in the Kitchen, B@tches! posting and is sick and funny. We all need goals, don't we?
Is this you? Don't give up, please.
Even though your paranoia reigns. I respect paranoia.
Amen, sistah.
Hoping this isn't you.
Hope this is.
Have a super great 2012, everyone.

Belated Sundries or Life Gets in the Way Sometimes...
First, this was something I wanted to share with you all on Sunday:
I found this in my parents' pictures--it probably hadn't seen the light of day in over fifty years. I figure the picture was probably taken in the early '40s. How cool is this?
I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! I am doing this post on my new HP laptop that DH and Santa gave me to replace my old one. Life is good!
This was too cute!
After the weekend, this is what I felt like:
I'd love to be an untraditional kitteh some year.
Isn't that the truth?
As is this.
This was just hilarious--from all the stupid commercials.
As was this.
And finally---
Love to all. Have a super rest of 2011!

Sunday Sundries--Christmas Edition Redux
Where has the month gone? I've been focusing on my new job in The Real World, my husband's crazy schedule for his new employers (company was sold) and getting fiction writing notes in my OneNote program while staying healthy I almost let some stuff slip by the wayside.
But we have to share funnies and stuff on Sunday!
Indulged a little too much at the work carry-in, but made sure I only ate the stuff I wanted and loved, so yeah, it was worth it!
On a related note:
That's more like it.
Probably Photoshopped, but cute.
Don't know how I feel about this one. Part of me is horrified at "defacing" a book, but if they would have been going in a landfill anyway, I'm glad there's some way to get some use out of them.
Kind of sad, isn't it? But, the one time I sat on Santa's lap, it turned out to be my older brother, so I can't really say anything. (It's the truth. *sigh*)
I got nothin'.
Complete and total awesomeness!
One of my favorite pictures of Mom at the nursing home, when they had the Santas from West Side Nut Club visit.
My brother Joe, first Christmas home from The Naval Academy.
Some very tasty beefcake.
And finally:
And we do--wish you a meowy Christmas! Have a great week, everybody!

Sunday Sundries--Christmas Edition Part I
Looking through some of the family pictures for some things to print and send along with Christmas cards, I have some to share with you, along with of course, some snarky cartoons and funnies.
This is a Patricia Anderle piece, Christmas Cardinal Sampler, from a Better Homes & Gardens Counted Cross-Stitch magazine. It is hanging by our front door and I love it lots.
This is me--with no clue why Mom cut the picture around me, but it looks like I'm having a pretty good Christmas.
This is something I found going through the family pictures that hadn't seen the light of day in 40-50 years. It's a picture of my dad, probably back in the early 40s. How cool is that?
One of the best Christmas presents ever--Prissy Lou. Mom brought her home for me as a kitten and she promptly ran up the tree, knocking it down. She became a daddy's girl when I went to college and she was a wonderful listener.

Another picture of me with my much older brothers--I'd forgotten I had a xylophone!
This looked like awsomeness to me! Imagine a topiary Godzilla that's life-sized and breathes smoke! Love it a lot.
Today is two weeks before Christmas. Does that scare you as much as Mr. Frank's Monster?
BWAAHAHAHA! Sorry, I thought it was funny.
Does this make up for it? He doesn't even have to be wrapped.
Wishing everybody peace and love over the next few weeks. Take care of yourself and take care of others. Remember the greatest gift you can give is your time and thoughtfulness. More later, I promise!

Sunday Sundries--Feline Edition
For those of you playing at home, we have two cats. They are tabby twins, Boris and Natasha, named so because they are evil.
But, I grew up with kitties and I'm pretty much obsessed with them.
Here's a great picture of my brother and two of Matilda's kitties, back in the 1950s.
She was a legendary slutty kitty, who would look at a male cat and get pregnant. Mom often told the story of one Christmas Eve where she kept wanting Dad with her as she birthed each kitten. Much like Pumpkin, mother of our Sky Kitty, The Great Tail-less Wonder.
Yes, he was Manx and more of a dog than a cat, but we miss him so.
So, here are some of the best funnies lately:
Reference the evilness above.
Our twins are twelve and complete and total slugs.
They've been cranky and fussing at each other lately, so this is hitting close to home.
They are also creatures of habit. Natasha is not pleased with me going back to work, but glad I'm filling the bowl early every morning during the week. The weekend is a problem, though.
This was kind of weird, but cool. Probably Photoshopped, but that's OK.
Very cute--gotta love the cow kitties.
He will, won't he? We haven't put up a big tree since 2001, when despite it being anchored, the twins had it down and were running through it in less than two hours, breaking two of my wood ornaments and a couple plastic and resin ones. *sigh* Sky watched and looked at me, saying, "I told them not to do it. I told them they'd get in trouble."
Finally:
Very true, isn't it?
Which fur, feathered or scaled babies do you love?

Sunday Sundries--Slightly Silly Stuff
So, tomorrow (Monday the 28th), I'll be starting a new job in the real world. Thanks to all for the good thoughts--I'll be channelling my inner geek girl doing phone tech support for a call center. I promise to still check in, but I won't be on Facebook as often.
Let's take a look at some funnies, shall we?
Not that that ever happens...
Amen--that's from The Gaping Void Gallery.
In the comments on this one, someone started talking about how to figure the difference in area between the lower part of the glass and the upper. Man, my math skills are rusty!
This reminds me so much of my dad, who only graduated high school, but could fix most anything if he could find the tools to do it. If he couldn't, he'd go out and buy another.
This made me laugh--saw an interview with him and his CEO and he still looks like a geeky college guy.
For all you AV geeks like my hubby out there.
Finally,
Too true, isn't it? Gotta love that Maxine.
We'll see you again sometime during the week, I promise. Have a great one!
